Spartanburg, SC- Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg has named Mary McCoy the 2017 Volunteer of the Year. Mary has been a volunteer in the Endoscopy waiting room since 2014. Mary is a pleasure to be around because of her compassionate care and her ability to make people feel good. One Endoscopy staff member wrote, “Mary is an asset to our department. Her assistance with the patients and their families in our waiting area helps the check-in process flow smoothly and allows the nurses to focus on the care of the patients.”
The Volunteer of the Year award is voted upon annually by staff members, patients, visitors and fellow volunteers and is presented at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet in April. “Mary is well-deserving of the Volunteer of the Year award because she is known all over the hospital for her kind spirit,” says Sherry Winstead, Volunteer Coordinator.
