SPARTANBURG SC ― Mary Black Health System--Spartanburg Chief Executive Officer, Sean T. Dardeau, has been promoted to Market CEO of Mary Black Health System (comprised of Mary Black Health System -Spartanburg, Mary Black Health System – Gaffney and Mary Black Physicians Group). Under his leadership, Mary Black will continue to expand healthcare services for patients in the Spartanburg and Gaffney communities.
Since he was appointed CEO of Mary Black Health System – Spartanburg (MBHS-S) in 2014, Dardeau has worked with board members, physicians and employees to grow MBHS and provide quality patient care. Under his leadership, MBHS-S invested in advanced technology - serving both the hospital and physician practices. A pledge to see patients in 30-minutes-or-less was launched in the Emergency Department – which served a record number of patients in 2015 and 2016, and a helicopter landing pad was built on campus. Dardeau has also overseen the renovation of a number of projects designed to enhance the patient experience. They include upgrades for the Center for Rehabilitative Medicine and Behavioral Health; and a Family Birthing Center expansion project “expecting” completion in late 2017. Patient care has been expanded by the addition of a joint care program and oxygen therapy (hyperbaric chambers) in our Wound Center. Additionally, during Dardeau’ s tenure, Mary Black Physicians Group (MBPG), opened a new obstetrics and gynecology practice (care for women by women), a cardiology practice, as well as vascular, urology and orthopedic offices. Earlier this year, a new state-of-the-art primary care practice opened in Inman (Mary Black Physicians Group Family Medicine North) and construction is currently underway for a new provider location in Spartanburg – Mary Black Physicians Group Family Medicine - Cedar Springs.
“It is a privilege to work with our talented and dedicated employees, medical staff and Trustees to deliver high quality, safe care with a personal touch,” said Dardeau. “We are very appreciative of the trust placed in us by our Spartanburg and Cherokee County communities and we will continue to strive for excellence in everything we do.”
Dardeau has more than 20 years of healthcare experience in hospital administration and physician practice management. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Trinity Medical Center, in Birmingham, Alabama, and CEO of Southampton Memorial Hospital in Virginia and Lakeview Community Hospital in Alabama. He earned an MBA from Averett College in Danville, Virginia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from King College in Bristol, Tennessee.
Joshua Self will continue to serve as CEO of Mary Black Health System – Gaffney. Dardeau and Self have worked closely together to expand and improve healthcare services in Gaffney and Cherokee Counties since Gaffney Medical joined Mary Black Health System in 2015.
